Nickle Awarded U of D Bob Carpenter Center Project
Nickle Electrical Companies is proud to announce we have been awarded the Bob Carpenter Center Addition project at the University of Delaware. An addition of approximatley 56,000 sqaure feet will include two gyms, locker rooms, lounges, meeting rooms, and offices. Additional parking at The Bob is also being added.
Nickle’s work will include new primary service, transformer installtion, secondary service, as well as wiring and installation of all associated electrical gear, building and site lighting, and special systems such as fire alarm. Work is scheduled to begin next week and a Fall 2011 completion date is anticipated.
Nickle Receives 2 ABC Awards
On Thursday, November 18th, Associated Builders and Contractors, Delaware Chapter held their annual awards dinner and Nickle Electrical was the proud receiptient of two Excellence in Construction Merit Awards. Nickle was recognized for their exceptional work at the Blood Bank of Delmarva project in Newark, Delaware and J. M. Bennett High School, located in Salisbury, Maryland. NOVEMBER IS OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR BENEFITS
The month of November is Open Enrollment period for Nickle benefits. These include medical insurance, dental insurance, and our life and short-term disability plans. If you did not enroll in these benefits during your 30-day probationary period, and you would like to begin participating, now is the time to do so. NICKLE TO OFFER CODE CLASS TO EMPLOYEES
“Back To The Basics” code class will be offered to Nickle employees in our Newark office. Topics include working clearances, conductor ampacity, box fill and sizing, conduit fill, and sizing over current devices. Class will be held on November 3rd and November 10th from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm each night. This will provide current license holders with their mandatory 5 hours of continuing education. NICKLE TO BEGIN WORK ON DTCC ENERGY HOUSE
Nickle Electrical Companies is beginning work on Delaware Technical & Community College’s Energy House, located on the college’s Owens Campus in Georgetown, Delaware. The “house”, consisting of two classrooms, a conference room, and a green technologies lab, will be the site of the college’s alternative and renewable energy technologies. The aim is for the project to be LEED certified and is supported in part by an $800,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration, which is supported by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The house will include radiant-heated floors, geothermal technologies, solar systems, wind generation equipment and a living green roof. Nickle Electrical is excited to be a part of this innovative project, working with Emory Hill and Co.
