Estimator

Mid-Atlantic Region Full-Time

Prepare and coordinate full estimates on large, complex projects — delivering complete conceptual and total bid pricing.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and develop relationships with clients, prospective customers, and vendors
  • Review bid notices and advertisements to identify the best opportunities for the company
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, walk-throughs, and field surveys
  • Review construction documents, define scope, and execute take-offs in Accubid
  • Compose scope letters and review estimates and revisions for accuracy before bid delivery
  • Obtain material and subcontractor pricing and prepare cost analyses (material, labor, equipment, overhead)
  • Review contracts and purchase orders for accuracy against the estimate
  • Schedule turn-over and 24-hour bid review meetings; assist PMs with job setup
  • Maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, and requirements
  • Identify competition, safety considerations, and cost-impact items for each project
  • Coordinate with operations to ensure proper manpower if awarded

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 8 years of commercial, industrial, and/or residential experience or training
  • Knowledge of electrical codes
  • Knowledge of systems (fire alarm, security, etc.)
  • Ability to create conceptual estimates from budgetary proposals and expectations
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and manuals
  • Strong math skills — rates, ratios, percentages, and all units of measure
  • Knowledge of construction and safety practices
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, and estimating software (Accubid)
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Primarily a stationary office role with constant computer use and occasional movement to access files and equipment. Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and tour job sites in varied weather. Protective equipment required on site.
